Isra Wal Miraj, the night commemorating Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) journey from Masjid Al Haram in Makkah to Masjid Al Aqsa in Jerusalem, falls this year on January 16, 2026, according to the Gregorian calendar.
In the UAE, authorities have confirmed that Isra Wal Miraj will not be a public holiday, continuing the policy since 2019 when breaks for Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha were extended instead.
Other GCC countries announcing holidays include:
- Kuwait: Public holiday for government employees on Sunday, January 18.
- Oman: Public holiday declared on Sunday, January 18.
The observance remains a significant religious occasion for Muslims, marked with prayers, reflection, and community gatherings.
