Dubai, UAE — Emirates airline has announced the cancellation of several flights as Super Typhoon Ragasa moves closer to the Philippines, where the powerful storm is expected to make landfall in the coming days.
In a statement released on Friday, the Dubai-based carrier said it was forced to adjust its flight schedule to ensure passenger safety and to comply with local authorities’ guidance on air travel during extreme weather events. The airline noted that affected routes primarily include services to and from Manila, Cebu, and other major Philippine cities.
“Passenger and crew safety remain our top priority,” Emirates said. “We are closely monitoring the situation and will resume normal operations as soon as conditions allow.”
Super Typhoon Ragasa, packing winds of over 200 km/h, has already prompted mass evacuations in several coastal provinces. Authorities have warned of life-threatening storm surges, flooding, and widespread damage to infrastructure once the storm makes landfall.
Emirates confirmed that customers impacted by the cancellations can rebook their flights free of charge, request refunds, or use alternative travel options once services resume. The airline also urged travelers to check its official website or contact customer support for the latest updates.
The cancellations come as the Philippines braces for one of the strongest storms in recent years, with government agencies on high alert and emergency response teams deployed nationwide.
