The UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) announced that 230 social media accounts were shut down in 2025 for illegally promoting domestic worker recruitment services without proper authorization.
According to the ministry, these accounts were operating without obtaining required licences and were not linked to officially approved recruitment offices permitted to provide domestic worker hiring services.
MoHRE stated that promoting or using unlicensed recruitment services violates the UAE Domestic Workers Law and may result in legal consequences. Authorities warned that dealing with unlicensed agencies can expose employers to risks, including loss of legal rights and failure to meet mandatory procedures such as medical tests and background checks for workers, potentially endangering families.
Licensed recruitment offices in the UAE operate under regulated service standards and approved pricing structures, ensuring trained and qualified workers are provided through safe and legal channels.
The ministry urged citizens and residents to hire domestic workers only through licensed recruitment offices and to report suspicious or misleading social media advertisements. Complaints can be made by contacting MoHRE at 600590000 or by checking the official list of licensed recruitment offices on the ministry’s website.
