Indonesia’s $10 billion school meal initiative, launched to provide free meals to millions of students, is facing serious concerns following widespread food poisoning incidents. Over 800 students across several regions, including a major outbreak in West Java, fell ill after consuming meals from the program.
Health authorities and NGOs are calling on the government to temporarily halt the program to investigate food safety measures and improve oversight. The National Nutrition Agency has promised a thorough investigation and assured the public that stricter safety protocols will be enforced. Despite these incidents, the government remains committed to providing nutritious meals to students nationwide.
