UAE: Indian workers across the UAE are receiving support through financial literacy sessions, legal counselling, health awareness programmes and community activities organised by the Consulate General of India (CGI) in Dubai.
The initiatives form part of the month-long Seva Pakhwada, observed from September 17, focusing on community welfare, environmental protection, health, fitness and public participation.
Financial and Health Awareness for Workers
The consulate organised a financial literacy and health awareness session at a labour camp in partnership with TAK Group. The programme provided workers with practical information on financial planning, accessing healthcare services and using consular assistance and helpline facilities.
Another awareness session was conducted with the All Kerala Medical Group (AKMG) Emirates under the theme “CLEAR – Community Learning on Alcohol Risks.” It aimed to educate Indian workers about the harmful effects of alcohol consumption and encourage healthier lifestyle choices.
The activities were held under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, a nationwide campaign marking 25 years of public service by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and promoting public participation in the vision of Viksit Bharat, which aims to make India a developed nation by 2047.
Free Legal Counselling for Indian Nationals
On September 21, the consulate organised a legal counselling camp for Indian nationals living in Dubai and the Northern Emirates.
The walk-in initiative offered free legal guidance on issues including cybercrime, financial and banking fraud, misuse of Emirates ID and related legal concerns, helping community members access timely advice.
Viksit Bharat Run Draws 3,000 Registrations
Fitness and community participation were highlighted through the Viksit Bharat Run 2026, organised by the consulate in association with the Indian People’s Forum (IPF) at Zabeel Park.
The event recorded around 3,000 registrations, bringing members of the Indian community together to promote fitness, unity and collective participation.
Consul General Dr E. Vishnu Vardhan Reddy and consulate officials also visited Guru Nanak Darbar Gurudwara in Dubai, where they participated in Langar Sewa, the free community kitchen service that provides meals to people.
Blood Donation Camp Supports Humanitarian Efforts
A blood donation camp was organised at Sharjah Blood Bank in collaboration with Ekta Sharjah and the Dawoodi Bohra Community.
The initiative brought together volunteers and community members to support blood donation and contribute to an important humanitarian cause.
Tree Plantation Drives Promote Sustainability
Environmental awareness was another key focus of the campaign, with tree plantation activities organised at educational institutions across Dubai and Sharjah.
In Dubai, the participating institutions included Amity University Dubai, Manipal Academy of Higher Education Dubai, the University of Dubai and BITS Pilani Dubai.
In Sharjah, Dr Reddy and consulate officials joined plantation activities at Indian International School, PACE International School, Gulf Asian English School and Delhi Private School. Students, teachers and officials took part in efforts to encourage environmental responsibility and greener communities.
On October 2, Dr Reddy and consulate officials also paid floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at his bust at the consulate, remembering his enduring message of truth, non-violence and service.
Strengthening Community Welfare Across the UAE
Through the range of activities, the Consulate General of India reached out to workers, families, students, community organisations and other members of the Indian diaspora.
The initiatives highlighted the consulate’s focus on practical assistance, health awareness, legal guidance, environmental responsibility and community participation, encouraging Indians in the UAE to contribute towards a healthier, greener and more socially responsible society.
