Sharjah, June 8, 2026: A newborn baby girl and her family were safely rescued after a fire broke out in a residential apartment in Sharjah’s Al Nasseriya area early Friday morning. No injuries were reported in the incident, thanks to the swift response of Sharjah Civil Defence teams.
According to local reports, the Sharjah Civil Defence operations room received an emergency call at 1:35am reporting a fire inside an apartment located on the second floor of a residential building in Al Nasseriya. Firefighting and rescue teams from the Samnan and Al Mina Civil Defence stations were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the fire originated from an air-conditioning unit inside the apartment. Upon arrival, rescue crews quickly launched evacuation operations and safely escorted the trapped family members, including a newborn baby girl, out of the residence.
Firefighters simultaneously worked to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to neighbouring apartments within the building. The teams later completed cooling operations to ensure there were no remaining hotspots that could reignite the fire.
Brigadier Yousif Obaid Harmoul Al Shamsi, Director-General of Sharjah Civil Defence Authority, praised the rapid response and professionalism demonstrated by the emergency teams during the operation.
“The protection of lives remains our top priority in all emergency response operations,” he said, highlighting the high level of preparedness and dedication shown by civil defence personnel.
Al Shamsi noted that the quick coordination between field teams played a crucial role in bringing the situation under control and ensuring the safe rescue of all occupants without injuries.
He reaffirmed the authority’s commitment to maintaining round-the-clock readiness to respond efficiently to emergencies and safeguard residents across the emirate.
Authorities have reminded residents to regularly inspect electrical appliances and air-conditioning units to help prevent similar incidents and enhance household safety.
